Ok, my turn (I love war stories when they turn out ok, but also others can learn from them). When I was 17, I rear-ended a BMW automobile at about 40mph. I was looking back behind me to change lanes. I had a bad habit back in my young driving career of not trusting my mirrors and would keep my head turned too long. Anyway, I look ahead again and here's the back end of a car stopped in my lane about 15ft in front of me. The last thing I remember seeing before impact was the speedometer. It read 40mph. I know this may be hard to believc, but I never touched the car. The bike took all of the impact, I flew at an angle over the trunk, just missing part of the rear window and landed on a grass slope on the other side of the sidewalk lining the street. Didn't even get a scratch! The bike was totaled, the car suffered some pretty extensive cosmetic damage. 19 years later, I still wonder how I survived that.
